But … what are cookies?
Cookies are files or data packages that can be saved on the user’s computer (or other device enabled to surf the internet, for example, smartphone or tablet) when visiting a website. Usually a cookie contains the name of the internet site from which the cookie comes from, the duration of the cookie (ie the time for which the cookie will remain stored on the device), and a content (number, string, etc.) , which allows it to perform its function.
What are cookies used for?
Cookies are used to make navigation easier and to better adapt the website to the user’s needs. Cookies can also be used to help speed up future user experiences and activities on other websites, and are used to compile anonymous aggregate statistics that allow you to understand how users use the sites in order to help improve the structure and the contents of these sites.
The different types of cookies
Technical Cookies: these are cookies that are used to browse or provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the operator of the website that you are browsing. Without the use of these cookies, some operations could not be performed or would be more complex and / or less secure, (for example, cookies that allow you to maintain and maintain your identification during the session).
Analysis and performance cookies: These cookies are used to collect and analyze the traffic and use of the site anonymously. These cookies, even without identifying the user, allow, for example, to detect if the same user returns to connect at different times. They also allow you to monitor the system and improve its performance and usability. The deactivation of these cookies can be performed without any loss of functionality.
Profiling cookies: these are the cookies used to track the user’s browsing on the web and create profiles on his tastes, habits, choices, etc. With these cookies, advertising messages can be transmitted to the user’s terminal in line with the preferences already expressed by the same user in the online navigation.
First-party cookies (first-part cookies) are the cookies generated and used directly by the manager of the website on which the user is browsing.
Third-part cookies (third-part cookies), are cookies generated and managed by parties other than the operator of the website on which the user is browsing (in force, as a rule, a contract between the owner of the website and the Part Three)
Session Cookies and Persistent Cookies: While the difference between a first-party cookie and a third-party cookie concerns the subject that controls the initial sending of the cookie on your device, the difference between a session cookie and a persistent cookie concerns the different time frame for which a cookie operates. Session cookies are cookies that typically last as long as you close your internet browser. When you finish your browser session, the cookie expires. Persistent cookies, as the name indicates, are constant cookies and continue to operate after you have closed your browser. They are therefore cookies that last longer, as well as the closing of the browser session, often used to allow the website to remember the choices of a user. Our website uses persistent cookies such as cookies acceptance on this site.
COOKIES USED ON THIS WEB SITE
This website uses ‘session’ technical cookies, persistent and Third Party cookies. It does not use profiling cookies.
How can I control my browser’s cookie management?
The operating modes as well as the options for restricting or blocking cookies can be made by changing the settings of your Internet browser. You can also visit the site, in English, www.aboutcookies.org for information on how to manage / delete cookies based on the type of browser used. All modern browsers offer the possibility to control the privacy settings, even for what concerns the use of cookies. In particular, the user can intervene on the general behavior of the browser against cookies (for example, instructing them to NOT accept them in the future), view and / or delete cookies already installed.
Here are the procedures for accessing these settings for the most used browsers:
